The difference
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn NZ$1,974 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a NZ$1,974 listing | NZ$1,668 | NZ$1,481–NZ$1,678 | NZ$1,974 |
| Guest paysfor NZ$1,974 to reach the owner | NZ$2,335 | NZ$2,321–NZ$2,631 | NZ$2,110 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than NZ$3,948 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

About Ziano Piacentino
Ziano Piacentino stands on a hill above the Val Tidone in the province of Piacenza, close to the border with Lombardy and about 25 kilometres west of the city. It is often cited as having more of its territory under vines than any other municipality in Italy, and the landscape shows it: rows of Barbera, Croatina and Ortrugo run over every slope between the hamlets of Vicobarone, Montalbo, Seminò and Albareto. The wines are the reason to come. Gutturnio, a red blend, and Ortrugo, a light white, are both local DOC wines, and many estates pour them at the cellar door. The village itself is small, with the church of San Paolo Apostolo, a sixteenth-century town hall, the remains of a tenth-century castle and a viewpoint over the hills. Vicobarone has a museum of rural life. September brings the Festa dell'Uva, the grape festival, and harvest traffic on the lanes. Spring and autumn are the best walking and cycling seasons; summer is hot in the valley. A car is needed. Piacenza, the medieval town of Castell'Arquato and the Oltrepò Pavese are all within reach for a day out. It suits a slow, food-led stay.
Good to know
September, when the harvest is under way and the village holds its grape festival, is the liveliest time. May, June and October are good for walking between the hamlets and visiting cellars without the heat. Winter is quiet and some estates receive visitors by appointment only.
Yes. The hamlets, wine estates and neighbouring valleys are spread across the hills with little public transport. The nearest railway stations are at Castel San Giovanni and Piacenza, and from there a car is the practical way on.
The hills are gentle and well suited to road cycling and easy walking between vineyards, with steeper routes further up the Val Tidone. It is not a destination for demanding hikes. Families will find it calm, with space to run around but few organised attractions.
Gutturnio, a red made mainly from Barbera and Croatina, comes both still and gently sparkling. Ortrugo is the local white, dry and light. Malvasia, often off-dry and sparkling, is the third name you will see; most estates will pour all three.
Choose a Ziano Piacentino holiday home and message its host through BookNoFees. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment.
BookNoFees deducts no commission from the amount set by the host. The displayed total includes a 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks. Nothing is added at checkout.
