Schulstraße 9, 25355 Barmstedt
Das Webers is a bar and restaurant on Schulstraße in Barmstedt, led by Patrick Weber and built around familiar cooking, drinks and private celebrations. Its kitchen combines regular house dishes with seasonal specialties, including asparagus, matjes herring, chanterelles, beef roulades, mashed rutabaga and roast goose. The result is a distinctly northern German repertoire with different dishes coming into focus as ingredients change through the year. Schnitzel is one of the house's particular interests. The restaurant describes preparing it from lean pork loin, tenderizing the meat and coating it with flour, eggs from Bokel and finely grated breadcrumbs before frying it in rapeseed oil. Guests can eat in the restaurant or on a summer terrace surrounded by greenery. At the bar, the choice runs from beer specialties and selected wines to hot drinks, soft drinks, spirits and long drinks. Celebrations occupy a substantial place in the business. Rooms accommodate gatherings of twenty to eighty people and larger parties by arrangement, with menus or buffets planned around the occasion. Birthdays, weddings and confirmations are among the events the team caters for. The kitchen also welcomes advance requests for dishes beyond its regular selection. Catering extends the service to homes and business premises, from decorated sandwiches to complete buffets. Meetings, seminars and presentations can also be arranged with catering and technical equipment. For a visitor, the appeal lies in this combination of a local restaurant, a place for drinks and a kitchen accustomed to bringing groups together. Payment is in cash.

Neel-Greve-Straße 2, 25364 Bokel
The Kaminzimmer restaurant belongs to Bokel-Mühle am See, a boutique hotel beside the Bokeler See in a former watermill setting. An open fire gives the dining room its name, while chef Oliver Huckfeldt prepares changing regional specialties. The property connects its present hospitality business with a milling history that reaches back through five generations. Breakfast is available to outside visitors as well as hotel guests, with reservations requested. The buffet includes homemade jams, Bircher muesli, fruit and vegetables, salmon, cheese and cold cuts, with scrambled eggs and bacon from the kitchen. Coffee, selected teas and freshly squeezed orange juice complete the offer. Views toward the lake are part of the breakfast setting. An afternoon menu brings homemade classics and sweet dishes for a lighter meal or coffee stop. The evening restaurant then focuses on regional cooking in the Kaminzimmer. Beyond ordinary restaurant visits, the property has several distinct rooms for family celebrations, all grouped around the same lakeside site. The library provides an intimate setting for up to twenty guests. The Alte-Mühle retains brick walls and mill machinery and accommodates up to thirty-four, while the adjoining Remise has glass doors opening toward the lake and space for seventy-two. A white lakeside pavilion dating from 1914 offers a larger setting with a veranda and terrace. Celebrations can be planned with table service or a buffet, and the team discusses individual arrangements with organizers. These different spaces make the old mill a setting for both a restaurant meal and a larger family occasion.

Le Comptoir de Bernard is a small restaurant and brasserie in Orchimont, with cooking rooted in the surrounding Ardennes. Bernard works with local producers and artisans, and the restaurant describes direct, short supply chains as central to its approach. The scale is intimate: the dining page lists ten places inside and sixteen outside, with a terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside in summer. Its food changes with the time of day. Breakfast brings together bread, pastries, cheese and cold meats, while the brunch adds items such as smoked salmon and omelette. At lunchtime, the published choices include soup, sandwiches, a croque-monsieur, omelettes and a dish of the day. Homemade dessert and ice cream also appear on the menu, making a shorter food stop possible without committing to an evening menu. Dinner follows a different rhythm. A three-course meal is offered by reservation, with the ingredients changing through the seasons. The restaurant gives asparagus in spring, lamb around Easter and festive-season game as examples of that approach. Ask what is planned for your date rather than treating those examples as year-round dishes. The brasserie is also a place to explore Belgian drinks, including regional and Trappist beers, fruit juices and homemade hot chocolate. Published daytime opening is Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30–18:00, with evening visits arranged in advance. The address is 64 Rue du Château in Orchimont; telephone Bernard directly or use the restaurant email to reserve.

Bakkerij Sonnemans is a pastry bakery in Burgh-Haamstede, a dune village on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland. The family has run it for four generations, which in a village of this size makes the bakery a fixed point rather than a business. What is unusual is what grew around it. The same family runs a small hotel behind the bakery, on the Achterweg, and the hotel is also a museum: walking in from the bakery's terrace takes you into rooms furnished as they once were. It is described by the owners as a boutique hotel and museum in one, and it can be visited over a cup of coffee rather than only as a guest. The opening hours are short and want reading carefully, because they changed with the season. From September the bakery opens Friday from eight to five, Saturday from eight to four and Sunday from eight to five. Monday to Thursday it is closed altogether. Anyone driving over for a Tuesday morning coffee will find the door shut. Burgh-Haamstede sits behind the dunes at the western end of Schouwen-Duiveland, north of Walcheren across the Oosterschelde. From Oost-Souburg it is a drive over the barrier dams rather than a short hop, and worth combining with the coast. You will find the bakery at Hogeweg 13, 4328 PA Burgh-Haamstede.

Rue de Liboichant 46, 5550 Alle-sur-Semois
Auberge d'Alle offers a more leisurely restaurant stop on Rue de Liboichant in Alle-sur-Semois. Carole Hulsebos and her team run the hotel and restaurant, whose dining room includes a fireplace. The house describes a flexible menu from which guests can compose a meal of three, four or five courses, so this is a useful address when the meal itself is part of the evening's plan. The restaurant's dedicated dining page emphasises fresh ingredients and a menu that changes with the seasons. Its published dinner service runs from 18:30 to 21:00 every day. Check the current menu and service arrangements directly before travelling, particularly if there is a particular ingredient you hope to try or a dietary requirement the kitchen needs to consider. Art is another distinctive part of the Auberge. The Corneille bar displays works by the artist whose name it carries, and other artists' work is shown through the hotel. In good weather, the terrace opens for drinks and outdoor meals. The setting therefore offers a choice between an indoor evening around the dining room and a meal outside when conditions allow. A separate private room is available for small dinners or meetings by arrangement. Contact the Auberge rather than assuming that space or a terrace table will be available on arrival. Its direct telephone and email lead to the team at 46 Rue de Liboichant; use them to reserve the table and agree the format of your visit.

Rue Liboichant 44, 5550 Alle-sur-Semois
Le Fief de Liboichant is a hotel restaurant in Alle-sur-Semois that also welcomes people staying elsewhere in the valley. Its kitchen combines French cooking with recognisable Ardennes ingredients, making it a useful choice when you want a regional meal rather than a quick snack. Chef Gaby and the team work with the seasons, with fresh trout, game and rabbit cooked with Trappist beer among the examples described by the restaurant. The menu is accompanied by changing suggestions, so the dishes available on a particular evening should be checked when booking. Children have their own menu, and the team invites guests with particular dietary needs to discuss them directly. This is a place to ask about what is being cooked now, rather than arriving with the expectation of a single permanent signature dish. In suitable weather, lunch and dinner can be served on the terrace. The hotel's outdoor page describes views across the valley and a flower garden behind the building. An outside table therefore offers a different setting from the main dining room; mention that preference when making a reservation, with the understanding that the weather determines whether outdoor service is possible. You will find the restaurant at 44 Rue Liboichant in Alle-sur-Semois. Contact the team by telephone or email to confirm the current service times and reserve a table, especially if you are organising a family meal or need to discuss ingredients before visiting.

Rue Liboichant 12, 5550 Alle-sur-Semois
At Le Charme de la Semois, a father-and-son kitchen gives regional recipes its own interpretation. The restaurant is part of the hotel of the same name on Rue Liboichant in Alle-sur-Semois, and its seasonal approach makes it an option for a planned lunch or evening meal in the valley. Lobster is one of the specialities highlighted by the house, while a separate children's menu gives families another way to choose their meal. The dining experience extends beyond the kitchen. Owner Jane welcomes guests and offers advice, and the bar includes Orval among its beers. French, Dutch and English are spoken. Anyone with an allergy, or anyone seeking a vegetarian meal, should mention it when reserving so the restaurant can explain the available options rather than leaving the discussion until dishes arrive. There is also a breakfast option for visitors who are not staying at the hotel, but it must be booked the previous day. The buffet described by the restaurant includes pastries, bread, cheeses, smoked salmon, eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice. It provides a distinct alternative to returning for a full lunch or dinner, particularly if you prefer to organise a morning stop. The published lunch and dinner windows are 11:30–13:30 and 18:30–20:30. Use the hotel's direct telephone or email details to check your chosen date, reserve breakfast where required, and confirm any dietary arrangements. The address is 12 Rue Liboichant, Alle-sur-Semois.

Rue de Vresse 93, 5550 Membre-sur-Semois
The restaurant at Hôtel des Roches is in Membre-sur-Semois, making it a particularly local option for a stay in the village. The hotel retains an older Ardennes setting overlooking the Semois, and its restaurant combines a general seasonal menu with a distinctive midweek offer: Wednesday service includes Vietnamese and Thai dishes. This gives the address a different emphasis from the many purely regional dining rooms elsewhere in the valley. The kitchen says it uses fresh, seasonal products. Lunch and dinner are both offered, with published service from 11:30 to 15:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00, seven days a week. Those separate kitchen windows are worth noting if you are planning to eat between activities; the bar remains open more broadly through the day, but that does not mean the full menu is served continuously. There is room for around fifty diners indoors and forty on the terrace, and private restaurant bookings can be discussed with the team. An outside table puts the meal in the riverside setting when the weather is suitable. For a larger gathering or the Wednesday cuisine, reserve and ask what will be available on your particular date. The hotel also describes its position beside the river as a starting point for exploring the surrounding natural area. The restaurant's address is 93 Rue de Vresse in Membre. Its direct telephone and email are the simplest way to arrange a table and check current service details before setting out.

Basalt is the fish restaurant of Middelburg, and it says so without hedging. It stands in the Sint Janstraat in the historic centre, close to the old fish market, and the whole kitchen is built around fish, wine and what the Dutch call the Burgundian way of eating — slowly, and at length. The offer changes, which is the important detail: what is served depends on what came in from the market that day rather than on a fixed card. In Zeeland that is a real distinction. The province sits between the North Sea and the delta, and mussels, oysters and flatfish come out of water a few kilometres from the table. A restaurant that rewrites its list around the catch is buying differently from one that does not. The room is described by the house as domestic in feel rather than formal, and there is a wine list built to go with the fish. It serves every day, lunch from midday to four and dinner from five to eleven, with a short break between. Booking is the sensible course in a small centre-of-town dining room. Middelburg is five kilometres from Oost-Souburg, four minutes by train, and the Sint Janstraat is a few minutes' walk from the station side of the old town. You will find Basalt at Sint Janstraat 34, 4331 KD Middelburg.

De Herberg stands on the Pottenmarkt in the middle of Middelburg and describes itself as your living room in the heart of the town — informal, open to everyone, and open from ten in the morning until midnight, seven days a week. The house line is "just like home, but with better food and drinks", which is at least honest about what it is aiming at. The single long opening covers everything in one room: a coffee with cake in the morning, a full lunch, and in the evening brasserie dishes from the barbecue. The menu deliberately sets classics beside things that are not — North Sea bouillabaisse next to Korean sticky ribs, house-made falafel and a proper set of vegan dishes rather than one token plate. There is a terrace, and a list of special beers to sit outside with, which on the Pottenmarkt means watching one of the busiest squares in Zeeland go past. Because it never closes between services, this is the practical answer to the awkward hours — a late lunch at three, or something to eat at ten at night, both of which are hard to find in a Dutch provincial town. Middelburg is the capital of Zeeland, five kilometres from Oost-Souburg — close enough to cycle, and served by a direct train that takes four minutes. You will find De Herberg at Pottenmarkt 2, 4331 LM Middelburg.

HoneyPie is a lunchroom on Achter de Houttuinen in Middelburg, and it wears its subject openly: the house motto is that a balanced diet is a piece of cake in each hand. Cake is the point here, and lunch is served around it rather than the other way round. Beyond the daytime menu the kitchen does three things worth knowing about in advance. There is a high tea, which is booked rather than walked into. There is a picnic, packed to be taken away — a sensible idea in a province where the coast and the dunes are twenty minutes from the front door. And there is cake to go, sold whole or by the slice, which is the reason to stop here on the way to somewhere else. It opens from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon, Tuesday to Sunday. Monday it is closed. Those are daytime hours in the strict sense: this is not a dinner restaurant, and arriving at seven in the evening will find it shut. Achter de Houttuinen runs along one of the old canals in the centre of Middelburg, a few minutes on foot from the abbey and the market square. Oost-Souburg is five kilometres away, an easy ride by bicycle along the canal. You will find HoneyPie at Achter de Houttuinen 50, 4331 NJ Middelburg.

BLOOM is a coffee bar on the Kleine Markt in the centre of Vlissingen, the kind of place the town did not have for a long time: specialty coffee made with care, matcha and chai, and a lunch card of homemade bagels, wraps and the classics, with smoothies and cakes alongside. Ingredients are fresh and, where it makes sense, from Zeeland. It opens at nine, which makes it a good first stop before a day on the boulevard or the beach at Vlissingen, and it stays a calm room for a coffee break in the afternoon. Closed on Sunday and Monday.

De Gecroonde Liefde is on the Nieuwendijk in the old harbour quarter of Vlissingen, a few steps from the boulevard, and it has been run by the same two owners, Ronny Kers and Raymond de Jonge, since 2002. The name is old Dutch for "crowned love", taken from the house. By day it is a place for coffee and lunch - sandwiches, soups, a good steak tartare - and from Friday evening and at the weekend a restaurant with a French-international menu, fish from the Oosterschelde and meat from the region. The room is warm and unfussy, with a bar for a glass of wine, a gin and tonic or a cocktail before or instead of dinner. From Oost-Souburg it is a ten-minute drive or a bike ride along the canal.

De Pannekoekenbakker in Oostkapelle is a pancake house on the Domburgseweg, on the island of Walcheren in Zeeland. The Dutch pannenkoek is a meal rather than a breakfast dish — a plate-sized pancake served either sweet or savoury — and this is a house that does nothing else, which is worth knowing before you arrive expecting a menu. The restaurant sets itself up as the stop after a day outside: a walk along the sea, a bicycle ride through the dunes, an afternoon out. That is a fair description of Walcheren, where the coast, the woods and the villages sit within a few kilometres of one another, and it is why the kitchen runs straight through the day rather than in two sittings. There is a children's club, so this is a room built for families rather than one that tolerates them, and gift vouchers and arranged packages are sold through the restaurant's own site. The house recommends booking, which on a wet Sunday in the holiday season is not a formality. It is open seven days a week, from half past eleven in the morning until half past eight in the evening — unusually long for the Dutch coast, where many kitchens close between lunch and dinner. Oostkapelle lies on the north coast of Walcheren, about twenty minutes by car from Middelburg and Oost-Souburg, and rather less by bicycle along the dunes. You will find De Pannekoekenbakker at Domburgseweg 75, 4356 BK Oostkapelle.

Boone is the eat and drink house on the Dorpsplein, the village square at the heart of Schoondijke. It opens five days a week from late morning into the evening, with an earlier start on Sundays, and closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The menu, published on the website, is split into a tearoom part, a lunch card served until five in the afternoon, and a dinner card. In the tearoom there is Zeeland apple pie, with ice cream and whipped cream if you like, and pancakes with butter and sugar. Lunch brings sandwiches with carpaccio, smoked salmon or warm ham, toasties including one with goat cheese, apple, walnuts and honey, and an uitsmijter, the Dutch open sandwich with three fried eggs, ham and cheese. Starters include a yellow curry soup with coconut milk, cheese croquettes with Parmesan and honey mustard, shrimp croquettes with cocktail sauce, and scampi in what the house calls its well known garlic cream sauce with samphire. Among the mains are a Hereford steak with warm vegetables, a hamburger with cheddar and bacon, spare ribs with aioli, sea bass fillet with homemade tartare sauce, fish and chips, a chicken thigh skewer with satay sauce and prawn crackers, and a vegetarian curry with cashews and naan bread. Children up to twelve have their own section, with fries and a croquette, frikandel or chicken nuggets, or a small portion of ribs. Desserts run to ice cream coupes, a dame blanche, warm cherries and chocolate mousse, and the coffee list ends with Irish, Spanish and Zeeland coffee. Tables can be reserved by phone or by email.

Molenstraat 56, 4508 AG Waterlandkerkje
Bistro In den Koning sits on the Molenstraat in Waterlandkerkje, a small village in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen a short drive inland from the coast. Angie and Juriën run it, and they describe their spot as the best of two worlds: Dutch soil, with a Flemish feel never far away. The menu follows what is good at the moment, built on classics, with regular excursions into French and Flemish cooking, and the kitchen names its suppliers. At lunch there is a burger of Zeeuws-Vlaams blue and white beef on a brioche bun from the Broodheeren bakery, a filled fish soup in the Breton style, Marie's shrimp croquettes on sourdough, artisan meat croquettes from Janssen, a smoked beef sandwich with truffle cream and aged Zeeland cheese, and croque monsieur or madame. Between noon and five there are fresh pancakes, one with organic apples, and Grandpa's apple pie. In the evening the starters include beetroot carpaccio with goat cheese, and the mains run from brined cod with leek purée and a shrimp jus to wild turbot with tarragon butter, barbecued lamb chops, a bistro steak of Belgian blue and white beef from the local polders, and pork cheeks, which the house calls the classic of the bistro. A vegan dish of balls with fregola and tomato is on the card too. Children under twelve get fries with a snack or a smaller portion of a main. The kitchen adapts dishes for allergies where it can and will pack up what is left. A two course high tea is served by reservation for two or more, starting between noon and two. Tables are booked online through the website.
Groede · Steak and grill · Burgers · Fish and seafood
Markt 30, 4503 AH Groede
De Drie Koningen stands on the market square of Groede, the old village near the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen coast. Groede was a Red Cross village during the Second World War, which is why its old buildings and the church square survived, and the restaurant is part of that historic centre. In summer the terrace sits out in the middle of the square; in the colder months guests move inside to a dining room the house describes as having a living room feel. The place has its own beer story. When it reopened in 2012 the landlord arrived with 300 litres of home brewed beer and named it Marckensteijn after the two operators, Marc and Stijn. Brewing started on the premises, grew into the Dutch Bargain brewery and moved to the former village school around the corner, where the Brouwerslokaal now is. Marckensteijn is still poured from the tap here as the house beer, next to Belgian classics and craft beers. The kitchen works with seasonal produce from the region. Lunch is served until five, then the dinner card takes over, both available in Dutch, German and English. Dishes include Zeeland fish soup with rouille, Flemish cheese croquettes made with aged Bruges cheese, shrimp croquettes, rump steak and rib eye, an oven gratinated fish casserole with salmon, cod, sole and scampi in a bisque sauce, a lava grilled house burger and a vegan soy burger. Gluten free bread is available, and children have their own menu. Groups and celebrations can arrange a personalised menu. Same day reservations go by phone or in person, and there is parking about 100 metres away on the Monnikenstraat.

Tabakschuppen combines a cafe, wine bar and gathering place in Forchheim. The building dates from 1938–1939 and was brought back into use after a long period of vacancy. Friends, family and local tradespeople helped with its conversion, and the venue opened in June 2021. Today, its food follows several different themes, with a bread based Vesper available alongside the changing specialties. Cheese fondue is one of those specialties and must be ordered ahead. Pizza uses organic flour, organic tomatoes and fior di latte mozzarella, while another part of the program centers on grilled cheese sandwiches. Breakfast gives homemade baking a prominent role: naturally fermented sourdough bread and croissants made from the house's own puff pastry accompany ingredients such as Parma ham, French organic cheese and homemade jams. The breakfast drinks offer several ways to complete that meal. There are espresso drinks ranging from cappuccino and flat white to americano, together with hot chocolate and freshly squeezed orange juice. Apple juice and spritzers use fruit from the venue's own orchard. The same connection with local fruit extends to its fruit spirits, made with a distiller in Rheinstetten. Tabakschuppen also accommodates birthdays, weddings, christenings and company gatherings. It is an official civil wedding venue, and exclusive celebrations can follow the ceremony. Wine seminars and other culinary events form another part of its activities. Reservations are available, vegan food is offered, dogs are permitted and the premises are accessible without steps.

Hauptstraße 53, 76287 Rheinstetten
Restaurant Schoko brings an unusual ingredient into German cooking: chocolate appears in savory dishes as well as desserts. At this family restaurant on Hauptstraße in Rheinstetten's Forchheim district, cocoa is used much like a seasoning, adding depth to sauces and accompanying vegetables, meat or fish. The kitchen has developed this approach since 2008, with combinations changing alongside the seasonal menu. Guests can explore the idea through individual dishes or a menu arranged around chocolate. The name has a history that predates the cooking concept. Founder Richard Karle worked as a photographer and also sold chocolate in round tins after the war. His local nickname eventually became the name of the cafe he opened with his wife Hilda. The business dates to 1947 and is now run by the third generation. Alongside its chocolate specialties, Schoko serves German dishes with contemporary influences, including meat, fish and vegetarian choices. Seasonal themes include regional asparagus, game and goose. A changing lunch selection complements the main menu, while dinners for two offer several courses for birthdays, anniversaries or another occasion worth marking. Celebrations are another part of the restaurant's work. Its gallery is an official location for civil weddings, allowing a ceremony and meal to take place together, with a reception in the small garden. Family gatherings and company events can also be arranged. Parking is available in the courtyard and in front of the building. Dogs are welcome indoors and in the garden, and meals from the current menu can be ordered by telephone for collection.

Jakobstraße 3, 76287 Rheinstetten
Beim Bruderbund is a restaurant and beer garden on Jakobstraße in Rheinstetten's Mörsch district. German cooking provides the starting point, with regional dishes and Mediterranean influences extending the selection. The dining room accommodates up to 130 guests, while the beer garden has another hundred seats for eating outside. The business is represented by Zorica Radulovic-Ibrajter, and the team describes more than three decades of experience in hospitality. The menu moves between familiar comfort food and grilled specialties. Maultaschen, the filled pasta associated with southwestern Germany, appear with onions, mushrooms or a baked topping. Schnitzel, pork tenderloin, rump steak and a mixed grill sit alongside fish and seafood preparations. Pasta and salads provide further choices, while a children's section includes smaller schnitzels and simple side dishes. The restaurant also prepares family celebrations and company functions, with the room and arrangements adapted to the occasion. Its garden offers an alternative setting in suitable weather. Food, sauces and accompaniments are prepared by the kitchen, and the house asks guests to allow time for that preparation. Planning ahead is particularly useful here. Reservations are taken by telephone or WhatsApp, and advance booking is required for weekends and public holidays. Guests should receive confirmation of their request. Payment can be made in cash or with an EC card; credit cards are not accepted. The kitchen concentrates on guests dining at the restaurant and does not take orders for collection.

Keplerstraße 101, 76287 Rheinstetten
Beim Jannis serves Greek food at the clubhouse of MSC Taifun Mörsch on Keplerstraße. Its setting combines an air conditioned dining room for up to a hundred people with a spacious beer garden. Couples, families and larger groups are welcome, and the indoor space can accommodate birthdays, family celebrations and company events. Traditional Greek recipes and Mediterranean ingredients shape the kitchen's approach. A meal can begin with several small dishes. The menu includes tzatziki, spicy feta cream, eggplant cream and vine leaves, as well as warm preparations such as breaded sheep's cheese, grilled peppers and baked eggplant slices. Seafood starters include anchovies, prawns cooked with garlic and tomatoes, and grilled octopus with lemon and olive oil. The grill section covers gyros, souvlaki and bifteki stuffed with sheep's cheese. Mixed plates combine different cuts and preparations, while lamb has a section of its own. Fish and seafood choices include salmon, pike perch, calamari and prawns. There are also dishes from the oven, including moussaka and meat baked with Metaxa sauce and cheese. Vegetarian main courses offer more than a side salad: choices include peppers filled with rice, eggplant filled with vegetables, and briam with sheep's cheese. A separate children's selection includes gyros, schnitzel and pasta. Desserts return to Greek flavors with yogurt, honey and walnuts or galaktoboureko, a pastry filled with semolina cream. Tables can be requested directly from the restaurant, including for gatherings that need a larger arrangement.

Rheinaustraße 53, 76287 Rheinstetten
Da Gino is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria on Rheinaustraße in Mörsch. Giovanni Scarafile is the proprietor, and the restaurant presents itself as a place for Italian cooking in a comfortable dining setting. It offers meals at the table as well as a separate menu for collection, giving visitors a choice between eating out and bringing food back to their accommodation. Pizza is a substantial part of that collection menu. The familiar starting points are Margherita, mushroom, salami and ham pizzas, followed by combinations such as tuna with onions or ham with pineapple. A vegetable pizza pairs its tomato and cheese base with fresh vegetables. Guests who prefer a stronger topping combination can choose the Piccante, which brings together ham, salami, peppers and hot chili peppers. Other variations change the sauce or the shape. Bolognese pizza uses a tomato and minced meat sauce, while the Salsiccia version adds spicy salami and onions to that base. The folded calzone contains ham, salami and fresh mushrooms. Flammkuchen provides another direction, using crème fraîche with bacon and onions; a further version adds cheese, mushrooms and garlic. The classic pizzas are offered in two sizes. The restaurant is directly beside the Rheinaustraße tram stop, as described in the municipality's restaurant guide. That makes public transport a practical option for a meal here. For table reservations or questions about collecting an order, guests can contact the restaurant directly by telephone or email. The house publishes separate restaurant and kitchen schedules.
Alt Duvenstedt · German home cooking · Steak and grill · Burgers
Dorfstraße 9, 24791 Alt Duvenstedt
Gasthof Zur Linde stands on Dorfstraße in Alt Duvenstedt and presents the cooking and hospitality of a Schleswig-Holstein country inn. The Krug family and their team combine regional meat and fish dishes with a substantial grill selection. One of the house specialties is the Duvenstedter Galgenspieß, a hanging skewer that brings together rump steak, pork fillet and turkey wrapped in bacon, with peppers, onions and chilies. Herb butter, coleslaw and two dips accompany it. The steak plate pairs beef with pork medallions, mushrooms and onions. Another option is the Lindenburger, made with regional beef, Holtsee cheddar, grilled onions and sauces; a vegetable patty is offered as an alternative. The kitchen's northern German side appears in homemade jellied pork with fried potatoes and a Holstein schnitzel topped with an egg. Fish dishes include fried plaice fillets with an herb and sour cream sauce, while North Sea shrimp appear in the soup selection. Salads and baked cheese provide further choices alongside the main meat dishes. Beyond a restaurant meal, the inn is equipped for social occasions. Its function room hosts weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and company gatherings, with arrangements developed around each party's wishes. A double skittle alley offers another way to spend an evening with friends or a club, and can also be booked for children's birthdays. Reservations are handled by telephone or email; an email request becomes binding only after the inn confirms it. Catering and family functions can be discussed separately.
Alt Duvenstedt · Fish and seafood · Vegetarian · Vegan
Am See 1, 24791 Alt Duvenstedt
LammButtRind is the restaurant at Seehotel Töpferhaus, beside the Bistensee in Alt Duvenstedt. Its Nordic cooking takes its starting point from the surrounding fields, woods, hedgerows and coast. The kitchen bakes its own bread, makes stocks, pickles and ferments ingredients, and changes the main menu with the seasons. Lamb, flatfish and beef provide the restaurant's name and remain recurring themes, with their accompaniments changing through the year. On the autumn menu, lamb comes with lentils, pumpkin and labneh, plaice with beans, pear and bacon, and braised ox cheek with potato and celery mash. Vegetables receive equally detailed treatment: semolina dumplings with chanterelles and a savoy cabbage roll filled with spelt, apple and pumpkin are among the meatless main courses. Desserts draw on familiar northern ingredients, including a layered apple and dark bread pudding. Inside, two dining wings use wood, natural colors and candlelit tables, with some seats looking toward the water. Six small heated glass houses on the lake terrace offer a separate setting for up to four guests each. A fireplace in the lobby provides another place for a drink before or after eating. Sous chef Marta selects the wines, including bottles from the Douro vineyard she owns with her sisters. Children have a small menu and high chairs. Vegan meals and allergies can be discussed when reserving. Larger parties can arrange a private room, and guests bringing a dog should mention it when booking.
Ascheffel · Steak and grill · Burgers · Fish and seafood
Aschberg 3, 24358 Ascheffel
Huk's Restaurant occupies the Panorama Hotel Aschberg in Ascheffel, with views across the Hüttener Berge landscape. The dining room uses natural woods, warm colors and generous light to bring the surrounding countryside into the building. Its interior is intended to suggest sitting beneath a canopy of trees, while the panorama remains part of the meal. Chef and managing director Michal Huk leads a kitchen centered on fresh, seasonal cooking and familiar dishes given new combinations and accompaniments. Fish and meat come from producers known to the house in the surrounding region. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are also part of the restaurant's offer, so the cooking extends beyond its meat and fish specialties. The published menu illustrates the range with a beef cheeseburger, a combination of calf's liver and braised veal cheeks, steak pans with several cuts of meat, and a veal schnitzel. These are examples from a seasonal menu rather than a promise that every dish remains available throughout the year. Drinks include selected house wines and seasonal cocktail creations, and the kitchen also offers sweet and savory snacks. The restaurant serves breakfast as well as its main meals. The adjoining hotel makes the Aschberg a place for family celebrations, weddings and business gatherings too. Its event team discusses the choice of room, menus or buffets, drinks and table decorations with organizers. Visitors arriving by car can park directly at the house. Table reservations and arrangements for a celebration can be made through the hotel's contact details.
Groß Wittensee · German home cooking · Steak and grill · Burgers
Rendsburger Straße 2, 24361 Groß Wittensee
Restaurant Wittensee Schützenhof belongs to the family owned Hotel Wittensee in Groß Wittensee. The house has been in family ownership for more than a century, and its restaurant combines Holstein specialties with a broad selection of familiar regional dishes. Guests eat in the traditional dining room or the bright conservatory, while a summer terrace provides an outdoor setting. The menu gives fish a substantial place. Choices include matjes with apple and onion cream sauce, whole fried plaice with bacon and cucumber salad, and pannfisch served over fried potatoes with mustard sauce. Homemade labskaus arrives with eggs, beetroot, pickled cucumber and matjes. A mixed plate brings together herring, jellied pork and roast beef, offering several northern German flavors in one meal. Meat dishes include pork medallions, grilled rump steak from Holstein cattle, schnitzels and a beef burger. Vegetarian choices include cheese spaetzle with fried onions, baked Camembert, a vegetable burger with a pumpkin and chia seed patty, and a baked potato with mushrooms. There are also open sandwiches on country bread for a smaller meal. Breakfast brings breads and rolls, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, yogurt, fruit quark and juices, alongside homemade jams and honey from local beekeepers. For celebrations, the hotel has several separate rooms as well as the conservatory and terrace. Its team arranges birthdays, weddings, reunions and company events, with menus and room arrangements discussed individually. Restaurant enquiries can be made using the hotel's telephone number.
Fahrdorf · German home cooking · Fish and seafood · Vegetarian
Dorfstraße 47, 24857 Fahrdorf
Altes Fährhaus Fahrdorf looks across the Schlei toward Schleswig, placing the water and the town's skyline at the center of the dining experience. The building has served as an inn since 1692 and was carefully renovated in 2013. Today the Hempfing family runs it as a restaurant with a regional kitchen, a sunny terrace and its own landing stage. Its cooking combines seasonal northern German classics with touches of Swabian food, reflecting the family's earlier years near Lake Constance. Chef Sven Hempfing trained in Berlin and later qualified in dietetic cooking before becoming a master chef. Tanja Hempfing, a trained hotel professional, oversees service and the running of the dining room. The menu gives a concrete picture of those northern and southern influences. Maultaschen come with bacon, onions and potato salad, while Swabian onion roast beef is accompanied by homemade spaetzle. Fish supplied by the Ross fishing family includes pike, perch and herring from the Schlei and Baltic Sea, with the selection depending on the catch. Vegetarian choices include cheese spaetzle, spelt and cheese patties, and pasta with pumpkin and ginger ragout. The waterfront setting also shapes how guests arrive: the inn can be reached from the B76 through the village, or by motorboat using its landing stage. Boat visitors should check the shallow water depth before approaching. The terrace adds an outdoor option, although service there depends on staffing and is not always available. Contact the family directly to discuss a visit.
