Asserstraat 55, 9331 JB Norg
Norgerhout is a restaurant and lunchcafé beside the Norgerholt woodland on Asserstraat in Norg. Its interior takes inspiration from the surrounding nature, with a warm, living room atmosphere that connects the dining experience to the forest outside. Lunch, dinner and drinks all form part of the offer, alongside arrangements for visitors exploring the woods. The kitchen works with seasonal ingredients and offers both an à la carte selection and a chef's surprise menu. The autumn menu brings together game, fish and vegetables: game pâté comes with plums and brioche, venison tartare with roasted pepper and Parmesan, and woodland mushroom broth with bread. Main courses include pheasant with parsnip and Madeira, duck with sprouts and spinach, and a catch of the day with seasonal vegetables. Celeriac with vanilla and hazelnut and kohlrabi with apple syrup and macadamia provide vegetable centred alternatives. There are also spare ribs and a house burger. Desserts follow the same seasonal direction, including dark chocolate with blackberry and tonka bean, or poached pear with almond and star anise. A cheese board offers another finish. For a visit built around walking, Norgerhout combines coffee or tea and cake with a five kilometre woodland route, followed by a Dutch lunch selection. High tea brings sweet and savoury bites together and requires advance booking. A separate children's menu is available, while private rooms and tailored arrangements accommodate celebrations, meetings and meals for larger groups.

Brink 4, 9331 AA Norg
't Wapen van Norg stands on the Brink, the village green at the heart of Norg. The restaurant has carried its present name since 18 March 1957, giving it a long connection with this central meeting place. Its offer stretches from coffee and homemade cake to lunch, drinks and a full dinner. That range makes it an option for a short refreshment stop as well as a meal planned around a visit to the village. The kitchen provides separate lunch and dinner menus, while children have a menu of their own. Homemade baking is part of the offer in its own right, so a visit need not involve ordering a complete meal. Guests can also come for a borrel, the Dutch custom of gathering over drinks. The restaurant presents these different occasions together, with food and conversation at the centre of the experience. For dinner, the team recommends reserving a table by telephone. Larger parties are also welcome, but the restaurant asks them to book early. Groups of ten people or more use a dedicated group menu rather than the ordinary individual menu. Anyone wanting an adapted menu can contact the team to discuss the possibilities beforehand. This gives families, friends travelling together and other organised parties a clear way to arrange their meal. The location on the Brink places the restaurant directly in Norg's village centre, with its address forming a straightforward meeting point for guests arriving separately.

Oosteind 11, 9331 AE Norg
Mon–Thu 17:15–21:00; Fri–Sat 17:15–22:00; Sun 17:15–21:00
Pizza Pazza is a pizzeria and grillroom on Oosteind in Norg, with a menu that brings pizza, grilled meat, filled breads and vegetarian dishes together in one place. Its range suits a mixed order: one person can choose a pizza while another opts for chicken, a grill platter or falafel. The pizza selection includes familiar combinations such as Margherita and salami, alongside a Norg pizza topped with ham, salami, chicken, döner and shoarma. Separate sections cover vegetarian pizzas, fish pizzas and folded calzones. Beyond pizza, the kitchen offers beef fillet with mushrooms and onions, lamb chops, mixed grills and chicken in cream sauce. Grill dishes come with a choice of potato slices, fries or rice, plus salad. Vegetarian choices include a falafel platter and a vegetable pizza, while the children's menu offers chicken fillet or a hamburger with fries and salad. Orders can be placed directly online or through the restaurant's own mobile app. Delivery covers Norg and neighbouring villages including Langelo, Peest, Westervelde, Een and Veenhuizen. An email confirms an online order; guests who do not receive it are asked to contact the restaurant. On Sundays and public holidays, deliveries may take longer. Anyone with a food allergy or intolerance should explain it when ordering. The kitchen says it takes care with these requests, while making clear that allergen cross contamination cannot be completely ruled out.

Peesterstraat 1, 9331 BC Norg
De Baander is a foodcafé on Peesterstraat in the centre of Norg, combining lunch, substantial plates and snacks to accompany drinks. Its menu moves between Dutch café favourites and dishes with other influences, with choices for a small appetite as well as a complete meal. The business also operates a cafetaria and provides catering for gatherings. Lunch boards bring several tastes together. The vegetarian version combines a vegetable croquette, goat cheese and the day's soup, while other boards feature meat or fish. Sandwich fillings include pulled pork, ham with honey mustard, smoked salmon and brie with honey and walnuts. For a more substantial choice, beef burgers come with salad and homemade fries. Toppings range from cheddar and pickles to truffle mayonnaise, and the kitchen offers vegetarian versions too. Beyond burgers, the plates include chicken satay, schnitzel, beef stew prepared with Maallust bock beer, and rendang with rice and atjar. Flammkuchen provides another option, while loaded nachos and a board of cheeses, cured meats, bread and snacks suit sharing over drinks. Children have their own choices, including a pancake and fries with a selection of snacks. Desserts continue the informal style with ice cream, chocolate chip cookies and churros. A coffee board pairs a hot drink with sweet treats. For an occasion away from the foodcafé, the catering service prepares lunches, buffets and bites, with arrangements discussed directly with the team.

Donderseweg 22, 9331 TB Norg
Wed–Sun 10:00–17:00
Natuurplaats Noordsche Veld brings a café and information pavilion together beside the woodland, heath and stream valley landscapes near Norg. It is a place to combine something to eat with discovering the surrounding countryside, with regional produce forming part of the food offer. The pavilion also introduces the area's archaeology, including burial mounds and ancient field systems. Coffee, fresh tea, cakes, biscuits and ice cream provide options for a short stop. The lunch menu includes homemade soups, filled rolls, toasted sandwiches and snacks to accompany drinks. Children have dishes of their own. A distinctive house arrangement is the Drenttea, a high tea built around sweet and savoury regional products, bringing the connection with Drenthe onto the table. The indoor space accommodates approximately sixty people, and a large outdoor terrace gives groups another place to gather. The team arranges business meetings, birthdays, children's parties, family days and weddings, with activities available to accompany the food. Possibilities include a guided walk, a covered wagon outing or a puzzle route, arranged according to the group's wishes. For independent visitors, walking information is available at the pavilion. A purple route covers six kilometres and a yellow route thirteen kilometres. Families can explore the Donderpad using an activity booklet, with a different treasure hunt for each season. These links between food, play and the landscape make the café a useful base for a countryside outing, whether the main purpose is lunch, a walk or time together outdoors.

128 Chaussée du Sillon, 35400 Saint-Malo
Favorite Coffee is a coffee shop on the Sillon, the long seafront promenade, run by three sisters who wanted a place that serves breakfast all day. That is what it does: eggs, pancakes, granola bowls, avocado toast and fresh juices from morning until the afternoon, with specialty coffee, matcha and homemade cakes alongside. The room is bright and the tables outside face the beach across the road. It is the kind of place for a slow morning after a swim, or a late breakfast on a day when the tide has taken the beach away. Weekends are busy; midweek mornings are the calm ones.

3 Chaussée du Sillon, 35400 Saint-Malo
The Brasserie du Sillon stands right on the seafront promenade, ten minutes on foot from the ramparts, with the beach and the tide in front of the windows. It is a seafood house first: oysters and whelks from the bay, a Royal Sillon platter stacked with crab, langoustines and prawns, grilled fish of the day and moules-frites. The menu changes every six to eight weeks with the season, and there is meat for those who did not come for the sea. Between lunch and dinner the room becomes a tea room, which makes it a good stop after a long walk along the Sillon. The dining room is level and accessible, and the terrace faces the water.

Le Globe-Trotter is a small restaurant in the heart of the Cité d'Alet, between the Solidor tower and the Bas-Sablons beach, and its name is the menu: dishes gathered from journeys, cooked with what the Breton markets offer. A Thai curry can follow a Breton fish tartare, a tagine a plate of grilled prawns, and the card changes often enough that regulars find something new each visit. At midday there are set lunch formulas between about €15 and €22, which makes it one of the better-value sit-down lunches on this side of the harbour. The terrace is sheltered and there is room for families; evenings are calmer than in the walled town.

7 Esplanade Commandant Yves Menguy, 35400 Saint-Malo
The Crêperie Solid'Or is named after the Solidor tower that stands a few steps away at the mouth of the Rance, and it does the one thing a Breton crêperie should do well. The galettes are made from organic buckwheat flour, the classic complète with ham, egg and cheese alongside fillings with andouille, scallops or goat's cheese and honey, and the sweet crêpes come with salted-butter caramel made in house. Cider is served in bowls, as it should be. At the weekend the kitchen stays open through the afternoon, which suits a late return from the beach at Bas-Sablons. It fills up quickly in summer; the terrace on the esplanade is the place to wait.

8 Allée du Marégraphe, 35400 Saint-Malo
La Corderie sits on the Cité d'Alet peninsula in Saint-Servan, on the far side of the harbour from the walled town, with a terrace that looks across the estuary of the Rance to Dinard. The same family has run it for more than thirty-five years, and the kitchen has stayed with what the boats bring in: sole and bass from the bay, scallops in season, lobster from the tank, a fish soup that regulars order without opening the menu. It is a quiet, unhurried place, better for a long lunch with the view than for a quick bite. Booking is wise for the terrace on a sunny day.

Dorfstraße 42, 26553 Neßmersiel
Fährhaus Neßmersiel is an evening restaurant within the small, family-run hotel on Dorfstraße. The Eberleh family has owned the hotel for almost half a century, and the restaurant builds its identity around the food of the nearby coast and marshlands. Its kitchen team includes three master chefs, with a menu that responds to the season and what is available at market. Fish and North Sea shrimp are central to that approach. The restaurant works with fishermen it knows in the surrounding Wadden Sea ports, while meat can come from equally local sources: young beef from the Adrianenhof in Neßmergrode and dyke lamb from Neßmersiel shepherd Janko Schneider. These are ingredients to look for on the day's selection rather than a promise that every item will be available on every visit. The menu changes daily. Expect a choice of starters, soups, main dishes and desserts, combining regional cooking with the kitchen's own changing ideas. The menu published online is explicitly an example, so let the day's offering guide your choice when you arrive. This suits a dinner planned around local produce rather than a particular fixed dish. Restaurant service runs Wednesday to Sunday from 17:00 to 22:00, with Monday and Tuesday closed. Those hours differ from the hotel's opening arrangements. Call the restaurant before a special journey, especially outside the main season. One practical point for dog owners: the restaurant is dog-free throughout its service.
Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets

La Porte, 35430 Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets
The Auberge du Clos des Vignes is a country inn on the road between Saint-Malo and the Rance, ten minutes by car from the walled town and away from the summer crowds. Tony and Alexis run it as a pair, one in the kitchen and one in the room, and the cooking is French bistro food done with care: a market menu that changes with the week, meat from the region, fish from the coast, proper desserts. It opens for lunch and dinner every day of the week, which is rarer than it sounds around Saint-Malo, where many kitchens close on Mondays. The garden makes it a good choice for an evening when the town is full; parking is easy.

Enno-Hektor-Straße 18, 26553 Dornum
Dornumer Teestube offers an East Frisian tea-and-cake stop in a carefully restored, listed building dating from 1808. Sabine Freese and her team welcome guests at Enno-Hektor-Straße 18, close to Dornum's water castle. The café has around 50 seats, with a separate room for groups of up to 30, making it suitable both for a quiet afternoon pause and a gathering arranged in advance. Tea is served in the local style: an East Frisian blend in a pot on a warmer, accompanied by rock sugar and cream. The drinks menu also includes loose alternatives, coffee specialities and hot chocolate; oat milk is available for coffee and cocoa drinks. This gives visitors a chance to try the regional tea ritual without limiting companions to the same choice. The cake counter changes daily. The pastry selection includes fruit and cream cakes, sea-buckthorn cake, chocolate varieties and the café's Dornumer cherry and apple cakes. Freshly prepared cream puffs come with fillings such as cherries, seasonal berries or brandy-soaked raisins, while apple strudel can be accompanied by cream, ice cream or vanilla sauce. Ask about the day's vegan or gluten-free possibilities rather than assuming every cake is suitable. Whole or half cakes can be ordered to take away, normally with at least three days' notice. The café closes at 18:00 daily. Its published opening times differ between pages, so telephone before a late-morning visit or when arranging a group table.

Cassen-Eilts-Pad 2, 26553 Dornumersiel
Käthe & Karl brings a coastal fish restaurant into a former blacksmith's workshop beside the dyke in Dornumersiel. Astrid and Mark von der Ohe run the restaurant, whose name honours Astrid's parents. There is a terrace for warmer days and a fireplace setting for cooler evenings, giving this small corner of the coast two quite different ways to enjoy dinner. Fish is a strong part of the menu, but the selection is broader than seafood alone. The published menu includes a four-fillet fish plate, plaice with butter sauce, herb-topped pollock and salmon with pesto tagliatelle. An East Frisian schnitzel combines pork with North Sea shrimp and a fried egg. Seasonal dishes sit alongside these choices, so the exact selection can change during the year. Vegetarian and vegan diners have specific options rather than just side dishes. The kitchen offers a vegetable plate with potatoes, cashew cream and salad, and identifies suitable preparations that can be made vegan. Children have their own menu with smaller fish, chicken, pasta and schnitzel dishes. Discuss allergies with the team before ordering. This is primarily an evening address, with kitchen closing times earlier than the final restaurant closing time. Reservations are recommended and currently accepted up to 30 days ahead; call if you will be late, since tables may be released after 15 minutes. Dogs are welcome, card payments are accepted, and takeaway food is available in either reusable or disposable containers.

Hafenstraße 9, 26553 Dornumersiel
Hafensänger stands at Dornumersiel's harbour, with views across the water and a kitchen centred on northern German food. The main restaurant opens at noon and serves hot food continuously until 20:30, making it a useful choice when a beach walk or coastal outing does not fit neatly into a short lunch sitting. There is also a terrace for eating outside. The menu moves between familiar fish dishes and more substantial harbour-style meals. Plaice comes with butter sauce, while Pannfisch brings three fish fillets together with mustard sauce, bacon beans and fried potatoes. Other choices include matjes, labskaus, a pollock burger and beef burgers. The published seasonal menu also includes a potato-patty burger and vegan chilli made with lentils, beans and rice, so a mixed group need not all choose fish. An afternoon visit can be simpler: the restaurant offers a changing cake selection alongside tea and coffee. Families can ask for a highchair, colouring materials and children's food choices. Anyone with an allergy or intolerance should speak to the service team, who can explain the ingredients used in individual dishes. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant but must remain on the floor; water bowls are provided outside. The indoor dining room is non-smoking, with a separate smoking area on the terrace. The self-service Strandbude below the restaurant has its own earlier opening time, so use the main restaurant's noon service when planning a seated meal.

Hauptstraße 11, 26427 Bensersiel
Stürhus is a maritime restaurant on Bensersiel's Hauptstraße, a short coastal outing from Dornum. Its rooms are described as the decks of a ship: the main deck contains the bar, salad counter and tables for two to four, while the upper deck offers harbour views and more space for groups. On clear days the view from upstairs can reach Langeoog. A terrace provides an outdoor option in suitable weather. Fish has a prominent place in the kitchen's traditional cooking. The current fish menu includes pan-fried pike-perch with creamy leek vegetables, redfish wrapped in bacon with green beans, and pollock with remoulade. Hamburger Pannfisch combines pollock, gherkin, Dijon mustard sauce and fried potatoes in a pan. Salmon appears in several preparations, including a herb-and-cheese crust with a light curry sauce. Several of these fish dishes can be ordered as a smaller portion, a useful detail if you prefer a lighter meal. The wider menu also has sections for vegetarian dishes, meat, rump steaks, children's meals and platters for two. This is therefore a practical coastal choice for companions with different appetites, rather than an exclusively fish-based restaurant. Lunch, an afternoon coffee or tea, and evening dining are all part of the restaurant's offer. Check current service hours when planning your trip. Stürhus asks guests to reserve by telephone rather than email; mention whether you are coming as a larger group or hoping for an upstairs table.
