The difference
A host wants NZ$1,975. Here’s what it costs.
The host keeps their full price. The displayed total includes a 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds. BookNoFees earns nothing from it.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn $1,975 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platform commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 3.9% |
| Owner keepson a $1,975 listing | $1,669 | $1,481–$1,679 | $1,975 |
| Guest paysfor $1,975 to reach the owner | $2,337 | $2,323–$2,633 | $2,052 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than $4,938 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 3.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. About Egypt
Staying in Egypt
Egypt lets you pair ancient wonders with warm-water beaches in a single holiday. At Giza, on the edge of Cairo, the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx have stood for more than four thousand years, while the sprawling capital adds its museums, mosques and markets. South along the Nile, Luxor holds the Karnak and Luxor temples on the east bank and the Valley of the Kings on the west, with hot-air balloon flights at dawn; further upriver, Aswan is calmer, a gateway to Philae and the relocated Abu Simbel temples, and the starting point for many Nile cruises. On the coast, the Red Sea resorts draw sun-and-sea travellers to Hurghada and its polished neighbour El Gouna, known for beaches, watersports and nightlife, while Sharm el-Sheikh on the Sinai and quieter Marsa Alam further south open onto some of the world's finest snorkelling and diving reefs. Apartments, resort-style rentals and Nile-view flats suit couples, families and groups, and many visitors combine a few days of sightseeing with a stretch of beach.
Good to know
Holiday rentals in Egypt — FAQ
Can I combine the ancient sites with a Red Sea beach holiday?
Yes, and many visitors do. A common pattern is a few days around Cairo and Giza, a stretch along the Nile at Luxor and Aswan, then time on the Red Sea coast at Hurghada, El Gouna or Sharm el-Sheikh. Internal flights link the main hubs and shorten what are otherwise long drives. Plan the order around your flights and how much beach time you want.
When is the best time to visit Egypt?
The cooler months from roughly October to April are generally the most comfortable for sightseeing in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, where summers are very hot. The Red Sea resorts stay warm and swimmable across much of the year, drawing winter-sun visitors. Because inland heat and coastal conditions differ, plan around the mix of sightseeing and beach time you have in mind.
How do I get between Cairo, the Nile cities and the coast?
Internal flights connect Cairo with Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea resorts and save considerable time over road travel. Along the Nile, many travellers move between Luxor and Aswan by cruise boat or train. For local sightseeing and transfers, ask your host for reliable drivers or tour contacts and realistic travel times to and from the property.
What sort of holiday rentals will I find in Egypt?
Choices range from apartments in Cairo and Nile-view flats in Luxor and Aswan to resort-style rentals, villas and beach apartments along the Red Sea at Hurghada, El Gouna, Sharm el-Sheikh and Marsa Alam. Some are self-catering, others sit within resort complexes with shared pools and beach access. The listing photos and description show the setup, and you can ask the host about anything unclear.
