The difference
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn NZ$1,982 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a NZ$1,982 listing | NZ$1,675 | NZ$1,487–NZ$1,685 | NZ$1,982 |
| Guest paysfor NZ$1,982 to reach the owner | NZ$2,345 | NZ$2,331–NZ$2,642 | NZ$2,119 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than NZ$3,964 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.
One country. Many favorite places.
Vietnam runs like a long, narrow ribbon from north to south, and travelling its length is one of the great overland journeys in Southeast Asia. In the north, Hanoi mixes a dense, atmospheric Old Quarter of street food and motorbikes with tree-lined lakes and French-era architecture, and it is the usual springboard for Ha Long Bay, the UNESCO-listed seascape of limestone karsts best explored on an overnight boat. The centre holds Hoi An, a beautifully preserved former trading port lit by lanterns and famous for its tailors, sitting close to the beaches and airport of fast-growing Da Nang. Further south, the coastal city of Nha Trang draws visitors for its bay, islands and diving, while the island of Phu Quoc off the southwestern coast offers palm-fringed beaches and a national park interior. Ho Chi Minh City, still widely called Saigon, anchors the south with its energy, history and street-food culture, and serves as a gateway to the Mekong Delta. Distances are long, so travellers often combine trains, buses and short flights.

Holiday homes in Vietnam: FAQ
Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗Because Vietnam is so long, the climate varies by region and there is no single perfect month for the whole country. Broadly, spring and autumn are comfortable across much of Vietnam, the north is cooler in winter, and the central coast and south have their own wet and dry patterns. If your trip covers north to south, it is worth checking the seasonal outlook for each stop rather than assuming one forecast fits all.
Many visitors work their way between Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south, using a mix of domestic flights for the long jumps and trains or buses for shorter, scenic legs. Basing yourself in a rental for a few nights in each region, rather than moving every day, makes the distances far more relaxing and leaves time for day trips.
Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site of towering limestone islands, is most often visited on a boat trip from the Hanoi area, with many travellers choosing an overnight cruise to see the karsts at quieter times of day. Day trips are also possible. A rental in Hanoi makes a convenient base before and after your time on the water.
They sit close together and complement each other. Hoi An is the atmospheric choice, a lantern-lit heritage old town known for its tailors and food, while Da Nang is a larger modern beach city with the region's main airport. Some travellers split their stay, and a rental in either puts the beaches, the Marble Mountains and the old town within easy reach.
You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks.
A holiday rental gives you more space, a kitchen and a neighbourhood to call your own, which suits a multi-region trip through Vietnam's very different north, centre and south.
