Konoba Gatto Nero

Konoba Gatto Nero is tucked into Zidine, a small street close to the sea in Novigrad. Its kitchen combines seafood, meat and homemade pasta, using carefully selected local ingredients, many from organic cultivation. The range makes it possible to approach the meal through several different parts of Istrian cooking, from shellfish to truffles. Seafood preparations draw on Kvarner scampi, squid and octopus, alongside scallops, other local shellfish and John Dory. These ingredients give the coastal side of the menu its character. The meat selection includes beef steak, cheeks and goulash, offering a different direction for guests who prefer a meal from the land. Homemade ravioli, tagliatelle and gnocchi sit between these two strands of the kitchen. Fritaja, the regional egg dish, is prepared with fresh black or white truffles, bringing another recognisable Istrian ingredient to the table. The restaurant also gives attention to vegetarian and vegan diners and to people who need to discuss gluten or other allergens. Guests with particular dietary requirements can raise them with the team when arranging their visit. Outdoor seating adds an alternative to the dining space, and the restaurant welcomes pets.
