Tomažova Konoba

Tomažova Konoba is the Vošten family's tavern and agritourism business at Vošteni, near Sveti Lovreč. The family prepares traditional Istrian food and produces cured meats of its own, making the relationship between the dining table and the household's food production central to a visit. The tasting selection brings together prosciutto, dried ombolo, pork neck, pancetta and sausages with four types of cheese. Homemade bread and extra virgin olive oil accompany these, followed by dessert. Aperitifs from Old School Distillery introduce another local product, and wine is included in the tasting arrangement. Beyond the cured meat selection, the tavern describes its kitchen as preparing meat and fish dishes from old Istrian recipes, with an emphasis on slowly prepared homemade meals. The family's meat products are processed by hand without smoking, using sea salt and pepper and avoiding added flavor enhancers. Indoor seating accommodates thirty guests; including the terrace, the total rises to sixty. Tables can be reserved by telephone or email. Groups are welcome, including visitors arriving together on an excursion. The family also presents the possibility of visiting a nearby distillery to see local spirits being made. A natural spring close to the tavern gives walkers another place to explore, while the fortified town of Sveti Lovreč provides a further stop in the area. Together, the tavern, cured meat production and surrounding countryside offer several ways to approach a visit, whether the main interest is a shared tasting or a longer meal.
