Ristorante Classico brings Italian cooking to a former German inn on Hauptstraße in Contwig. The building has been restored with an Italian character, and the restaurant has been serving guests since 2000. Its approach combines traditional dishes with newer ideas, using fresh ingredients and an uncomplicated style of presentation. The setting is intended for a proper sit down meal, with equal attention given to guests arriving as a couple or with children. Families are explicitly welcomed, and a high chair is available for smaller diners. Children can have a small helping of pasta or share a pizza with their parents or siblings. Pizza is also available to take away, so a meal from the kitchen can become part of an evening at home. The food selection includes pasta, meat, fish and seafood, alongside vegetarian choices. Among the dishes presented are buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes, tagliatelle, steak with polenta, and octopus. Desserts include panna cotta and sorbet. Wine is another substantial part of the restaurant’s identity. The selection travels through Italy from the north to the south and across to Sardinia and Sicily.
